True Life Experience

In 2015, a friend of mine moved to Canada as a teacher. He had no experience nor did he have to do the dreaded “IELTS”. He was able to get his work visa without having to show proof of funds like most people. The whole process took him about 2 months from the time he submitted his resume until the day he flew to Canada. This sounds like magic, right? Relax, I am going to share the process with you, so you can do it too if you want.

Standard Requirements for Moving Abroad as a Teacher

There are many things you need to do to move abroad as a teacher. The first thing you need to do is get your IELTS certificate, which is a certification that shows you know English. You need to have this if you want to be a teacher in any country. If you don’t have any experience teaching, then you can take a TEFL course (see below how and where you can take a TEFL course).

Usually, you may be required to show proof of your financial ability. You will need to show that you have enough money to support yourself while working as a teacher in your new country. The last thing you’ll need is proof of employment from your previous job before moving abroad as a teacher.

This will help the new country’s immigration officials see how long ago it was since you worked there, and also give them an idea about whether or not they should let you work there again based on what type of work experience they have on file for the employer (such as teaching English).

In a nutshell, here are the outline of the requirements

  1. IELTS certificate
  2. TEFL course
  3. Proof of financial ability
