PhD Student Positions Available

The Almeida Lab is part of the Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson University in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. We are a brand new lab (established Fall 2021) focused on the development of advanced biomaterials to modulate stem cell behavior, including differentiation and immunomodulatory potential. We are seeking talented PhD students to join our group who are interested in helping to establish the lab and taking a leadership role right from the beginning.

Examples of potential thesis project topics include:

  1. Biomaterials-mediated control over mesenchymal stem cell differentiation
  2. Biomaterials-mediated control over mesenchymal stem cell immunomodulatory properties 3. Towards a deeper understanding of biomaterial-mesenchymal stem cell interactions

Preferred Position Start Date: Fall 2022

Required Applicant Qualifications:

• B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields

• Strong written and verbal communication skills • Enthusiastic about science and highly motivated

Preferred Applicant Qualifications:

• Experience one or more of the following: biomaterials synthesis and characterization, mammalian cell culture, cellular and molecular biology
